HOUSTON -- A bank robbery suspect was taken into custody after a short chase Monday morning in southeast Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, the suspect robbed the Wells Fargo Bank located on West 43rd Street around 11 a.m. He was later spotted on the 610 Loop, where officers began their pursuit.

The suspect then turned south on the Gulf Freeway and exited on Almeda Genoa, police said. He then headed west on Almeda Genoa before bailing out of his vehicle on Orem and Mykawa.

He then ran into the nearby woods. Police surrounded the area and eventually took to the man into custody.
