HARRIS COUNTY, Texas A quick-thinking clerk shut the register on an armed man who drove up to a McDonald s drive-through window early Thursday.

The attempted robbery was reported in the 4900 block of N. Sam Houston Parkway at Bammel North Houston Rd around 3 a.m.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff s Office said a man pulled up and pulled out a gun, demanding money from the cashier at the drive-through window. She closed the register and fled to the restaurant s freezer along with a cook.

The suspect, who was possibly driving a dark blue Honda CRV, got away empty-handed.

The workers pushed a panic alarm, and deputies arrived at the scene.

The incident leaves customers, simply, shaking their heads.

I just don t understand why people have to do that. That lady is really scared, you know, it s just a terrible thing, one man said. She s not looking for a handout, she s working hard, doing a good job and you know, that other person needs help too but my goodness, what a terrible thing.

Another customer just had a simple suggestion for the suspects.

Get a job. That s it, nothing else, said Victor Delapaz.

This is at least the fourth drive-through incident of its kind since early October in the Houston area. In November, shots were fired in a McDonald s on Tomball Parkway, but no injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about any of these cases can call the sheriff s office at 713-221-6000 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
