HOUSTON -- Saturday came to a screeching halt in the 2000 block of Fry Road, just after 3 p.m in west Houston.

Witnesses said two men appeared to be arguing outside a gas station called Charlie s Food Mart. They then drove off in separate pickups.

They seemed to be taking their problem elsewhere, but did not get far. As they pulled up to a traffic light that was just steps from the station, the apparent argument turned deadly.

Five shots rang out, witness Alfredo Vizcarra said.

Witnesses said the shooter was in a black Ford F-150 and that the victim did not fire back.

We don t know if they knew each other or if this was a random argument about anything, Sgt. Greg Pinkins with the Harris County Sheriff s Office said.

I have nieces and nephews that are going to grow up around here, Alfredo Vizcarra said. I don t want this for them.

Police cannot say what the fight was over, or which way their shooting suspect went after he opened fire.

They have not released the name of their 18-year-old victim or the suspect's identity.
