HOUSTON A man said feared for his life after a road rage shooting Friday in north Houston.

It all began at about 10 a.m. on Interstate 45 close to Interstate 10. The man, who did not want to be identified, said a guy started tailgating him on the freeway.

The victim said he tried to change to another lane, but was blocked by an 18-wheeler and an elderly driver in front of him. He said when he was finally able to move the angry driver started following him.

He said the man pulled out a revolver and started shooting at him.

The guy followed me for like 35 minutes, he said.

The victim called 911 as he tried to escape. When police arrived the alleged gunman pulled into a Jack in the Box restaurant parking lot near West Road. Then he ran and jumped over fences in a nearby neighborhood, police said.

The suspect ended up knocking on Carla Uptown s door begging for help.

He said he was being chased by three men and if he could call his girlfriend to pick him up because he thinks he broke his leg, she said.

Uptown wouldn t let him in her house, but did give him a chair, and that s when police spotted him.

Police said they found a bundle of cash and some drugs on the man. The 28-year-old man was taken into custody.

The road rage victim said he s still trying to figure out why he was targeted.

Maybe the guy confused my truck, he said. Maybe this guy thinks I have money, or something...I m broke.

When the victim left the scene he thanked officers saying, You saved my life, man.
