HOUSTON -- Multiple fire crews battled a two-alarm fire in north Houston Wednesday afternoon.

Houston firefighters responded to the fire at an apartment complex located in the 300 block of Benmar Drive near Imperial Valley Drive around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Houston fire officials said a passerby noticed flames coming from an outside patio area and told the residents.

The wind spread the fire which heavily damaged two units and moderately damaged 14 other units, according to the Houston Fire Department.

More than 80 firefighters responded to the fire. The fire was controlled around 3:20 p.m.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross will assist the displaced residents.
