HOUSTON - Surveillance cameras were rolling as two masked men watched for passing cars and then broke into a corner store in far southwest Houston to get some quick cash early Thursday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, it was around 3 a.m. when the two men pried their way through a metal gate to get into the Shop & Go store in the 12200 block of Bissonnet near Cook Road. Once inside the store, the men then climbed through the roof to enter the locked clerk s register booth.

The whole thing was caught on camera, but the men were wearing ski masks, police said.

The men took cigarettes and an unknown amount of cash before getting away. The store s owner said he estimates the damage to be between $5,000 and $6,000.

Deputies conducted a search of the immediate area, but the men were never found.

I don t even know how they could do it like that, as much as police are around here, said customer Harold Stevens. It must be getting hard for them out here. But it's not that hard. We can all figure out a way to do something. Like I said, he's a good dude and shouldn't have to go through this. I hope he bounce back.

In the same strip center, Coventry Square, a barbershop owner told KHOU 11 News he believes it s the same men who hit his business three weeks ago.

Another tenant, computer shop owner Adolph Addemac, has been robbed so many times, he now tapes the police report slips to his front door.

I m exhausted, said Addemac. I m 70 years. I can t think.

In one recent case, he was in the store and managed to run off the burglars with a pistol.
