HOUSTON Police were called to the scene of a stabbing at a group boarding home in north Houston where they said a caretaker got into an argument with a resident.

The stabbing went down around 4:30 a.m. Friday on Burnley Street at Foxridge Drive.

The first officers on the scene reported finding a man stabbed several times and another man hit the head with a hammer, according to the Houston Police Department

An investigation revealed the caretaker tried to stop a patient leaving before the overnight curfew came to an end. A fight followed andthe resident allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed the caretaker several times. The caretaker responded by hitting the attacker with a hammer.

The caretaker was sent to the hospital in serious condition butis expected to survive.

The resident was treated at the scene for his head wound and placed in the back of a patrol car.

The Harris County District Attorney accepted a charge of aggravated assault against the resident, according to HPD.
