HOUSTON -- Police apprehended a suspect who was caught breaking into a church in southeast Houston early Tuesday.

A man tripped the alarm when he broke into the administration building of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located on Nagle at Hadley, just before 5 a.m. HPD arrived quickly and caught him in the act.

The first officer on the scene was holding the suspect at gunpoint when he heard more glass breaking, so he called for additional backup fearing there may be accomplices. But when officers arrived, they found it was just leftover glass falling from the window that was originally broken.

The suspect was then hauled off to jail.
