HOUSTON The brother of a Houston man accused in a deadly shooting rampage at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont was arrested Wednesday night.

The suspect s brother, Lyndon Granger, is also charged in the same child-sex-assault case. He called a press conference outside his home in northeast Houston to talk about the courthouse shooting.

Flanked by Bartholemew Granger s brother and his son, community activist Quanell X brushed aside condolences long enough to raise questions of a conspiracy against the Granger family. The same questions were raised in a civil lawsuit the brothers filed in federal court against authorities in Harris and Jefferson counties. The lawsuit, which sought $250 million in damages for mental anguish, was dismissed.

The family is appalled by the behavior of their loved one, but they do understand why he snapped, because he couldn t receive justice, Quanell X said.

Lyndon Granger offered no comments of his own because he s being tried in the same case as his brother and it turns out he wouldn t have had the chance anyway.

Sheriff s deputies from Jefferson County broke up the news conference and arrested Lyndon Granger on an outstanding warrant.

Major Bradley Lowe with the Jefferson County Sheriff s Office said it doesn t have anything to do with the trial that s going on.

It has to do with a charge he has on him personally. It don t have anything to do with the trial. He has a felony warrant on him. My office is here to execute that warrant, said Lowe.

KHOU 11 News learned that arrest warrant was for alleged indecency with a child.
