HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating a carjacking involving taxi cab on the northside of town.

A taxi driver said he picked up a male passenger near downtown shortly after midnight Tuesday.

The man told the driver he wanted to go to the Greenspoint area, so they got on the North Freeway northbound. Soon, however, the passenger asked the driver to stop at the Fiesta store on Airline Drive at Lyerly Street.

When the driver stopped, he said the passenger attacked him and then kicked him out of the vehicle. The passenger then took off with the cab.

There was an unknown about of money in the gab.

The taxi company tried to track the vehicle with GPS, but police were not able to locate it.

The driver was not seriously injured.
