HOUSTON -- An alleged domestic dispute led to a SWAT standoff at a home near Missouri City on Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers were called to an assault in progress in the 14900 block of Four Winds Drive around 7:50 a.m., according to Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon.

Neighbors said a man hit his girlfriend in the face, and then she stabbed him. The woman and her 11-year-old daughter then ran out of the home.

According to witnesses, the man suffered a serious stab wound but retreated back into the home.

It looked like the hand, or it could have been the stomach, said neighbor Tesfa Rogers. I don t know where she would have got him at, but he was bleeding bad.

A SWAT team was called in but was unable to make contact with the man, who was believed to be heavily armed.

He has 10, 15 guns in there, said neighbor Chris Simpson. He has big blue-nose pit bulls.

After about three hours, police went into the home and found the boyfriend was no longer there.

Police said the wounded boyfriend has prior arrests for domestic abuse, but they did not release his identity or a suspect description. They said a warrant would be issued for his arrest.
