HOUSTON Additional charges could be filed against a man who broke into another man s home and attacked him with a machete on Valentine s Day. The victim died from his injuries on April 20, nine weeks after his attack.

Marcus Trahan, 20, was charged with burglary with the intent to commit assault in the 339th State District Court. But in light of the victim s death, investigators will re-present the case to the Harris County District Attorney s Office.

Police said the victim, 64-year-old Ronald Boze, was at his residence in the 8200 block of Richmond with a friend around 2:40 p.m. when Trahan began banging on the apartment door. Boze saw that Trahan was armed with a machete and had his face covered with a bandanna and refused to open the door. Trahan then broke down the door and assaulted Boze with the machete and his fists, and threatened the witness. He then fled the apartment and was arrested in the apartment complex by responding HPD officers.

Boze was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was treated for large lacerations to his hand and multiple rib fractures and then released. Nine weeks later, Boze was found deceased in his apartment. An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined Boze had died as a result of injuries sustained during the assault.
