League City s red light cameras will be turned off and the city will stop issuing tickets today after the city council approved an agreement Tuesday to end the city s camera contract.

Last year, the city s residents voted to end the red-light camera program once its contract with Redflex Traffic Systems ran out in 2014.

But on Tuesday night, the city council unanimously approved an agreement to pay Redflex about $424,430 to end the camera contract by July about a year and a half ahead of schedule.
