PASADENA A loud motorcycle led to a dispute between neighbors that turned deadly in Pasadena Wednesday morning.

It happened in a normally quiet neighborhood in the 2000 block of Leroy.

Police say a neighbor apparently had a habit of riding his motorcycle across Chris McLain s lawn when he got home from work around 4:30 a.m.

This morning, McLain confronted the motorcyclist and that s when things turned violent.

The guy that was on the motorcycle got off of the motorcycle and he eventually stabbed the guy that confronted him, said Pasadena Police Department spokesman Vance Mitchell. And at that point, they got into a fight. And the man who was on the motorcycle was choked to death.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. McLain was rushed to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute by Life Flight. He was in critical condition at last check.

McLain s father said he had no choice but to defend himself.

No question this was self defense, said Turner McLain. My son is not a violent person.

Turner McLain said his son had no idea why the neighbor came at him with a knife.

When I did talk to him before he went into surgery, he said they re not doing anything to help him. He was more worried about him [the neighbor] then he was himself, McLain said.

Police were not releasing the name of the man who was killed, but described him as being in his mid thirties.

Detectives said the case would be referred to a grand jury without charges.
