HOUSTON -- Severe weather made its way into southeast Texas overnight Tuesday, dropping baseball-sized hail in GalvestonCounty.

In Hitchcock and Santa Fe, hail pounded cars and windows, causing damage ata police station and a mobile home community. ResidentstoldKHOU11 Newssome neighbors went out in the rain to try and cover their damaged roofs.

No injuries were reported.

Several counties were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings throughout the evening. At midnight nearly 50,000CenterPoint customers were without electricity. By8:15 a.m. that number was down to about 3,300, mostly inside the loop.

The storm brought lightning and heavy rain,causing street flooding in some areas near downtownHouston.

On the north side of town, it's believed lightning sparked an apartment fire in Spring.

The first round ofstorms moved into the heart of the Houston areafrom the westaround 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. By 5 a.m. Wednesday the last of a second round of rain wasmoving away from the east side of town.

There's a slight chance for rain heading into the afternoon hours, but the skies should start clearing out soon. Our next chance for rain comes next Monday or Tuesday.
