HOUSTON The Office of Inspector General is investigating alleged misconduct at a Houston fire station, fire officials confirmed on Thursday.

HFD sources told KHOU 11 News that the incident occurred last month at Fire Station 29. According to sources, it involved a firefighter who allegedly placed his privates or a sex object on the back and neck area of another firefighter.

Sources said the incident may have been intended as a prank, but it prompted an official complaint and an OIG investigation.

Sources also said several firefighters at Station 29 had been temporarily reassigned pending the unfolding investigation.

The president of the Houston Professional Firefighters Association, the union that represents Houston firefighters, said that it was important not to rush to judgment. He also called the nature of the complaint disturbing.

We have a storied history in the fire service in terms of pranks and jokes, said Jeffrey Caynon. But I think everybody understands that there s a limit and where that limit is.

Authorities said it could take weeks or months for the investigation to conclude.
