HOUSTON Some customers are angry Saturday morning after they were informed their storage units had been broken into in west Houston.
Tyler O'Malley thought his things were safe and secure locked inside the U-Haul storage building. He was wrong.
They just ripped everything open, he said.
O'Malley said nearly a dozen units at the facility on Westheimer were broken into. They took his motorcycle, a guitar and even his awards from the military.
Mine was just pried open, the latch is broken off, O Malley said. Some of the other units, the doors were just caved in, it had to be some hefty fellows.
Employees at the facility wouldn't show the surveillance video or give an explanation on how the thieves got in.
KHOU 11 News contacted the U-Haul corporate office for comment and was told to call back on Monday. However, it's little comfort to customers who pay rent for safe storage seven days a week.
O'Malley said the manager told him the break-in happened sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning. He did not have any sort of renters insurance.
