HOUSTON The University of Houston broke ground on a brand new state-of-the-art football stadium Friday morning near Cullen Boulevard and Cougar Place.
The $105 million stadium will have 40,000 seats, which can be expanded to $60,000, in the future. It will have a special synthetic turf, so the stadium can be used for all kinds of events.
The stadium will also feature a 12,400-square foot club overlooking the field of play.
There will be 26 suites on the stadium s south side one level above the club. They will have 12 outside seats, four inside bar stools and an entertainment area with a hi-definition television.
Thirty-four loge boxes with four padded seats and a hi-definition monitor will be located on the concourse level.
The stadium is set to open in August of next year.
