HOUSTON -- Crime Stoppers and Houston arson investigators are searching for the person responsible for setting a series of dangerous fires throughout the Memorial area.

Police say since December, an unknown suspect or suspects have been responsible for setting a series of fires along an area near Memorial Drive at Dairy Ashford. To date, investigators attribute at least 11 intentionally set fires to the string of associated crimes.

Authorities say the fires, which are set in area dumpsters and apartment buildings, have investigators particularly concerned for public safety. Four of six fires set at apartment buildings were started in the complexes stairwells, blocking escape routes for residents.

Investigators believe that the suspect(s) involved is likely traveling by foot, and lives in the immediate area.
