HOUSTON There were some tense moments at a Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse on Wednesday after a man authorities identified as a customer allegedly carried a hand grenade into the store.

It happened just after 1 in the afternoon at the business located along Highway 6 in northwest Harris County.

According to authorities, the man was shopping at the store when he walked up to an employee and said he had a grenade.

Then he allegedly stashed the ordinance in a stack of lumber and continued to shop.

Authorities were called and the store was evacuated.

Harris County Sheriff s deputies located the grenade and determined that it was hollow and not live.

The customer was questioned and later released.

The Harris County District Attorney s Office refused to press charges.

The customer refused to do an interview.

There s still no word on why he allegedly carried the grenade into the store.
