HARRIS COUNTY, Texas Narcotics investigators were called to the scene of a house fire near Springlate Tuesday after firefighters said marijuana was discovered at the home.

Deputies said no one was home at the time, but evidence at the scene indicated it was being prepped to use as marijuana grow house. Now authorities are looking for the people who lived at the home.

The fire was reported on Tall Tree Ridge Way at Greengate around 9:45 p.m., according to the Spring Fire Department. Firefighters found flames and smoke coming from the first floor of the two-story home.

Firefighters were able to put the blaze out before it spread to the rest of the home, but one firefighter suffered minor burns to his hand. Firefighters with the Ponderosa Fire Department assisted in putting out the blaze.

A cause for the fire was not immediately determined.

During the investigation, officials said an undisclosed amount of marijuana was found on the property along with containers of an unknown fluid.

Neighbors told KHOU 11 News when the fire broke out, they heard several explosions. Some were loud enough to shake the walls at neighboring homes, witnesses said. They also said two men and a woman in the home ran off before officials arrived.

It s always been kind of a fishy house, said resident Andrew Ballay. I ve always had a bad feeling about it. You never really see the people live there. There s usually one really nice BMW that comes in and out, and there are usually a couple of cars following it.

Despite concerns the home contained a meth lab, firefighters said nothing was found at the scene to suggest that.
