AUSTIN, Texas-- There's a new way for womenin Central Texas to get a life-saving test for free.

It's all courtesy of a big, pink bus.

Seton's new mobile mammography unit is completely digital -- a huge improvement over the film-based system that's been in use for the last 12 years.

The idea is to make is easy for all women to get mammograms because the technologycan be taken on the road.

Absolutely life saving especially for us. We did 2,013 women last year; 1875 were low-income, uninsured women. So they wouldn't have care without these services, explains Dawn Parsons, the clinical manager for Seton's cancer screenings.

The pink bus will be at Auditorium Shores near the First Street foot bridge starting 10:30 a.m. Friday; anyone interested in checking it out can head there.

It will begin touring Central Texas onMonday. If you'd like to see if you qualify for a free mammogram and to find out when the bus will be in your community, call 512/324-1199.
