HOUSTON Three people have been arrested and charged with kidnapping a Houston woman and setting her on fire.

The victim was abducted from an east Harris County motel on March 31, according to the Harris County Sheriff s Department.

She was taken to a vacant home in east Harris County where she was bound, beaten and set on fire. The suspects left her for dead.

The woman survived and managed to get to a house next door to get help. She was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital with severe burns over 80 percent of her body. She was put into a medical-induced coma while doctors treated the burns, severe head lacerations and broken bones.

Garrick Hastings, 25, and Thomas Martin, 37 were arrested this week and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Anita Pena, 37, is charged with aggravated kidnapping in the case.

According to court documents, the woman and her boyfriend lived with Hastings, who s known by the name Joker.

A relative said the victim owed Joker money for drugs and investigators believe that was the motive for the attack.

Hastings had recently served time in prison for robbery.
