SARITA, Texas (AP) - A roll of the dice has decided the Democratic nominee for a South Texas county commission slot after two rounds of voting both ended with ties.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (http://bit.ly/1uCEbTN ) reports Israel Rale Vela Jr. won the latest round in the race to become a Kenedy County commissioner. Vela defeated Roberto Salazar Jr. on Tuesday in Sarita (suh-REE'-tuh).

Both candidates received 33 votes in the Democratic primary in March. The pair tied again with 44 votes each during the May runoff.

Vela and Salazar agreed to roll five dice with the highest total winning. Salazar on Tuesday rolled 16. Vela rolled 23.

Vela does not face a Republican challenger in the November election.
