HOUSTON - Houston police said two gunmen opened fire on a couple outside their southwest Houston home late Thursday.

The shooting was reported around 8:45 p.m. in the 11100 block of Colebrook Drive near Boone Road.

Homicide investigators with the Houston Police Department said Christopher James Davis, 29, and his girlfriend Alexandria Lynn Berg, 24, were sitting in their car outside the home when two men approached. The men opened fire, shooting both victims multiple times.

Police said Berg tried to flee and she was shot as she got out of the car. She died at the scene.

Davis suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

The men fled the scene on foot before police arrived. No description of the gunmen was available.
