HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A sheriff s deputy was involved in a crash while trying to take down a pair of suspects in a stolen car early Wednesday.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff s Office said it happened along Lauder Street on the northeast side of town.

A deputy said a vehicle ran a stop sign near the Eastex Freeway, and a brief chase ensued. The chase came to an end a few blocks away when the suspects went into a field at Homestead Road, spun out, and then went back into the road sideways, colliding with a deputy s patrol car.

No injuries were reported, and the suspects were taken into custody.

Deputies said the vehicle the suspects crashed was stolen in a carjacking in High Meadows near Aldine Mail Route Road.

It wasn t immediately clear if the two men apprehended Wednesday morning were the same ones who carried out the carjacking.

It s the same vehicle, but we have to get a positive ID on the suspects, and we haven t done that yet, said Deputy Wilkie.
