SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Taft High School senior prom inSanAntonio is this weekend, but not all students got a ticket.

Five hundred tickets went on sale in March, with the final 15 sold Wednesday. KENS 5 has learned 17 students have been left empty-handed.

They kind of just started doing a raffle with the tickets, said student Tyler Angel.

Some students said they already purchased items for the big night, but they're left without a ticket to the prom.

They bought tuxedos and limos and everything before they bought the tickets, so I guess it's their own fault, but everybody was just scrambling to get the tickets, said Angel.

A spokesman for the Northside I.S.D. said there's a limited number of venues in Bexar County that can accommodate a large number of students. He estimated 100 high schools in the area are all vying for a place at the same time.

Last year, the school did not sell all 500 tickets and yet had the same number of seniors, 550.

The Taft High School Prom will take place at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio Downtown.

Some students say there's plenty of ticket scalping going on, but administrators have not received any formal complaints.
