HOUSTON Firefighters have contained a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex that started Friday afternoon in northwest Houston.

The fire, which started before 4:30 p.m., had spread to two buildings located in the 5400 block of West Gulf Bank Road near Streamside Drive.

When firefighters with the Houston Fire Department arrived at the scene, they found heavy fire coming from the buildings. Aerial views from Air 11 showed the roof on both buildings completely engulfed in flames.

With 25 HFD units and more than 50 firefighters, responders were able to contain the blaze just after 5:30 p.m.

HFD officials said that the two buildings are expected to be total losses.

Arson investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire. Neighbors said they would not be surprised if someone intentionally set the fire.
