HOUSTON The Houston Texans have re-signed inside linebacker Tim Dobbins. Dobbins agent, David Canter, announced the news on Twitter on Wednesday.

Congratulations to #TeamDEC client Tim Dobbins on agreeing to terms on a new one year contract with @HoustonTexans #bullsonparade, said Canter.

Dobbins, who joined the Texans in 2011, became a key member of the defense after Brian Cushing went down with an injury. He played in 14 games, started 6 and recorded 43 combined tackles and 1 interception.

The 8th year man out of Iowa State was the team s special teams captain in 2012. He missed the last part of the season due to an ankle injury.

Dobbins will provide much needed depth to a unit that was decimated by injuries in 2012. Brian Cushing is expected to return for the 2013 season.
