HOUSTON K-9 units helped nab a suspect who intentionally struck an HPD officer while trying to flee the scene of a nightclub shooting early Saturday, according to Houston police.

Police responded to a night club on Wilcrest at Harwin around 2 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they began to search the parking lot. They tried stop one man for questioning, but he hopped into his vehicle and ran an officer over in an effort to get away. The officer was taken to the hospital in stable condition with an injury to his hip.

The suspect fled the scene, but police and K-9 units were able to track him down to a nearby neighborhood.

The dog caught up to the suspect and bit him. The suspect was then taken into custody.
