New Braunfels police believe a Friday morning report of a gunman at Canyon High School was a diversionary tactic.

Authorities said they received an anonymous call about a man with a gun on the Canyon High School campus.

Both the New Braunfels Police Department and the Comal County Sheriff's Office responded and the campus was put on lockdown. But across town something else was going down.

Just a few minutes later, at around 9:18 a.m., Security Service Federal Credit Union on Hwy. 46 W. was reporting a bank robbery.

Witnesses there told police the suspect, who appeared to be a black male dressed in a long black ladies trench coat, a shoulder bag, wig and sunglasses, showed a weapon and demanded cash.

The thief fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Authorities described the suspect as being 30 to 40 years old, between 5 feet 7 and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Authorities continue their hunt for the wig-wearing robber. If you have information about the case, you are urged to contact Det. David Schroeder at
