HOUSTON The United States Supreme Court on Wednesday denied a petition by the Texas strip-club industry to review whether a $5 per person fee on club patrons mandated by the state violates the First Amendment.

The Texas Supreme Court ruled in 2011 that the fee was constitutional.

The Texas Legislature approved the fee in 2007.

Funds collected from the fee are supposed be used to fund programs for victims of sexual assault in the state.
