HOUSTON The Houston Zoo has received a rareanimal officials say is the only one of its speciesto be housed at an American zoo.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) officials say they discovered a Savigny s Tree Frog on Friday during a routine check of a shipping container being delivered to the Port of Houston.

The frog was captured and offered to the Houston Zoo, who gladly accepted it. According to a herpetologist, the Houston Zoo will be the only zoo in the United States to house the species of tree frog.

Making a contribution to our zoo is not a routine occurrence, said Houston CBP s Director of Field Operations Jeffrey O. Baldwin Sr.  Their discovery will now become available for the community to enjoy.

Houston Zoo spokesperson Brian Hill said the frog will be quarantined for 30 days before it ll be made available to the public.
