HOUSTON -- The medical examiner has identified the boy who was found fatally shot Monday morning behind Brentwood Baptist Church in southwest Houston.

The victim, 16-year-old H Racio Allen, was found lying on a sidewalk in the 13100 block of Buffalo Speedway at about 5:30 a.m.

Allen used to attend nearby Madison High School, and students there were stunned by the news.

(We're) walking around depressed. Like, what if it happens to us? said Madison High School student Jakhaylib Bowen.

Allen's mother said she last saw her son when she dropped him off at his grandmother s home Friday morning before going out of town. On Sunday he left the home, not telling anyone where he was going.

He calls me every timethat he goes to school. So he didn'tcall me and I just was like, something is wrong. Doesn't matter where he is, or what he does, he calls his mama, said Shyvonne Turner,Allen's mother.

She called police Monday morning and by that time his body had already been found. Turner said her son was having problems at school, so she pulled him out and put him in a GED program.

I don't know anybody that would want to hurt him. Because he wasn't that kind of kid to make you want to hurt him. He was funny, always telling jokes, said Turner.

Bowen said that Allen was quiet and didn't seem to have many friends, but didn't cause any trouble.

He didn't seem like a bad guy or anything. Just a regular teenager living his life, he said.

Many students saidAllen kept to himself. One woman said her niece was one of his close friends.

She just said he doesn't socialize with people much. But he would hang with them because they would all be together laughing. She called him her little brother, she said.

Police said there is no known motive, nor suspect(s) in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
