HOUSTON -- A mother's desperate search for her son came to a sad end; the medical examiner's office told the family it found a murder victim matching the description of Jawon Carson.
The 35-year-old disappeared Sunday. Neighbors saw him walk outside his apartment in the 15200 block of Blue Ash Drive. They then heard gunshots and the sound of a car peeling out.
A body was found off Richey road near Bush Intercontinental Airport Friday afternoon. Carson's mother got the call from the medical examiner's office saying they believed it was most likely him.
He is dearly beloved, said Camelia Carson. We want to find the person who did this to him as soon as possible.
The family spent days knocking on doors and passing out flyers in hopes of finding any clue to what happened to him. Volunteers with Texas Equusearch joined in the effort on Friday.
Carson's mother wished authorities would have looked for him sooner.
They had to wait 48 hours saying he was a grown man, saying he was a missing person, said Ms. Carson. I told them it's not a missing person when you hear gunshots, that's homicide.
Carson's family says he was a father of three and a student at Lone Star College.
My brother had a big heart, he smiled a lot and laughed a lot, said Michelle Carson. There is no one who has anything bad to say about Jawon.
Now the family is hoping anyone with information on this murder will come forward and call Houston police.
I just want justice for my brother.
