EDITOR'S NOTE: Charges against Willie Young were dropped the day after his arrest and he was released from jail

CYPRESS, Texas Two men were arrested Monday morning in connection with Saturday night's deadly mass shooting at a house party in Cypress that left two dead and 19 others injured, deputies said.

Willie Young, 21, and Randy Stewart, 18, were taken into custody Monday, according to the Harris County Sheriff s Office.

Young is charged with deadly conduct, while Stewart is charged with aggravated assault, deputies said.

Young's sister Briayanna defends her brother.

My brother brought me and two other people to the hospital, Briayanna said. My brother is not in a gang.

Stewart told reporters one of the victims who died, 17-year-oldQu'eric Danariu Richardson, was his brother.

Rest in peace, Qu'eric, Stewart said as he was loaded into a patrol car.

Richardson was a junior at Morton Ranch High School, according to Katy ISD spokesman Steve Stanford.

The second victim, 17-year-old Arielle Shepherd, was a sophomore at Morton Ranch, Stanford said.

HCSO investigators said the shooting happened just before 11 p.m. at a birthday party in the 7300 block of Enchanted Creek Drive.

More than 100 people, mostly high school students, were at the scene when the gunfire started. Many fled the home in a panicked rush to escape. Others were injured as they pushed up against a garage door while trying to escape the home.

Gangs are absolutely involved in this, said community activist Quanell X. Gangs are putting message out on Instagram right now that they are going to go after anybody who s snitching.

Sheriff Adrian Garcia said at least one of the gunshots was a celebratory one inside the house and was not directed at anyone in particular.

According to statements made Sunday by the sheriff's office, it was initially reported both victims killed in the shooting attended Cypress Springs High School.

Young and Stewart were both being held on a $250,000 bond.
