HOUSTON The Houston Chronicle is reporting that University of Houston wide receiver Shane Ros will be out the rest of the 2013 season after suffering a knee injury on Monday.

Ros will have one year of eligibility after this year.

The Katy native was a walk-on at UH and played special teams the first two seasons with the Cougars. In 2012, he got his first start at wide receiver and finished the year with 23 catches, 337 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Back in January, the university announced that Ros had been placed on scholarship for his senior year.

Shane has been a valued member of our program for the last three years and being granted a scholarship reflects that, said Levine earlier this year. From the day he entered our program, he has done a great job both on and off the field while putting the team first and for that he will be rewarded.

Ros was a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, presented annually to the country s top walk-on. He surpassed the 100 yard mark during a game against UAB, going for 114 yards and one score against the Blazers.
