HOUSTON - Police said a female passenger was stuck in the back of a small Chevrolet sedan after it flipped while exiting the Southwest Freeway at a high rate of speed.

The woman had to be extracted by firefighters shortly after 3 a.m. Friday.

According to the Houston Police Department, the crash happened on the freeway s northbound frontage road lanes.

A witness told police the car struck a curb as it exited at Chimney Rock. The car came off the exit ramp and didn t appear to slow down, the witness said. The vehicle then went airborne in the intersection, rolling over once and then landing back on its tires.

The female driver and a male passenger were not injured. The third person in the car, a female passenger in the back, was sent to the hospital in stable condition.

HPD said the driver refused to give a field sobriety test, and a mandatory blood draw would be performed at the police station. They did not say if she would face any charges for the crash.
