DICKINSON Police need help finding a man who attacked and dragged a 12-year-old girl into a wooded area in Dickinson. The girl s parents said the man tried to rape their daughter.

If you mess with a 12-year-old, you sick, said the father who KHOU 11 News did not identify because his daughter is a sexual assault victim.

That father doesn t mince words and who can blame him given what happened to his daughter on Cinnamon Cove Street.

She s a child, man, said the girl s mother. This is disgusting. (The attacker) needs to be caught and if there is anybody that knows anything about him talk (to police).

Around 1 p.m. Thursday, Dickinson police said the girl was abducted. She told authorities her attacker was a Hispanic man with curly hair, standing 5 6 tall, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a yellow long sleeve shirt, pants, possibly a jumpsuit.

The man dragged the 12-year-old down a trail into a wooded area and tried to rape her, the girl told her parents.

While they searched for their daughter, she fought back.

(My daughter) says she grabbed a stick and stuck him and then went to fighting and started hollering, the girl s father said. When she stuck him with the stick, he let her go. (When) she went to hollering and he took off running.

The girl and her parents spent several hours at UTMB Hospital in Galveston where the victim was treated and examined. Her parents said the girl is fine. Neighbors are not.

It didn t bring me to tears, but it s that kind of situation that you feel for that family and at the same time, it makes difference thinking about my daughters, said Tony Andrews, a neighbor.

With that attacker still out there somewhere, neighbors are nervous. The girl s father is just praying police find the suspect before he does.

You know we (are) Christian people and we try to do what s right, the girl s father said. I thank God that I didn t catch the guy because God would have had to help me.

Anyone with information that can help detectives find their suspect should call Dickinson Police at 281-337-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 409-945-8477.
