HOUSTON There s about a 30-percent chance of rain this weekend as a cool front approaches the Houston area, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.

The greatest chance for scattered rain showers will be in the afternoon.

Both Saturday and Sunday will be unseasonably warm with high temperatures in the mid-80s, but slightly cooler temps are on the way.

We have a couple of cold fronts, a series of systems, heading down toward the Gulf Coast, said Gomez. The first one will approach Houston, we think first thing Monday morning. It ll move through the Gulf Coast overnight Sunday, but we won t feel the cooler temperatures until first thing Monday.

Daytime temps next week will be in the mid-70s with overnight lows in the 50s and 60s later in the week.

Your Election Day forecast looks great as the chance of rain drops off by Monday night.
