HOUSTON Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested a man accused of working with a pill mill and raided his Rice University area home Tuesday afternoon.

Houston police assisted the DEA s Prescription Drug Task Force in taking Richard Romero into custody in the 2300 block of Dryden. DEA agents removed several boxes from the home for evidence.

Police said Romero is related to an owner of a pill mill in Georgia and was allegedly involved in the criminal activity. According to the indictment Romero was also conducting surveillance around the clinics to see if undercover officers were nearby.

Investigators said Romero and two other men were wanted on a warrant out of Atlanta. There was also a Harris County warrant to search his house.

Romero is accused of being part of a massive multi-state drug ring. Agents in Atlanta also arrested more than a dozen other people.
