MONTGOMERY COUNTY The Montgomery County Sheriff s Office is asking the public s help finding a man who allegedly shot and killed a security guard at a restaurant on August 14.

Jose Maximino Benitez was a security guard at the Taqueria Arandes located in the 25500 block of IH-45 S. Witnesses said earlier this month, he got into an argument with Fidencio Maravillo Martinez after Martinez allegedly parked in a handicap parking space. Witnesses said Martinez threatened the security guard as he was leaving.

Montgomery County Sheriff s deputies said on August 14, Martinez returned to the restaurant around 1:20 a.m., walked up to the counter and opened fire on Benitez before fleeing in a white Chrysler 300.

Benitez was rushed to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, where he later died.

Authorities said Martinez should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts should call the Montgomery County Sheriff s Office at 936-760-5876, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Dispatch at 936-760-5800, which operates 24 hours a day.

Montgomery County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to Martinez s arrest and Benitez s family is also offering an additional reward of $5,000.
