HOUSTON The Houston School Board has a big decision to make regarding five pending school closings.

Members met Thursday morning and talked about the possible school closures. Superintendent Terry Grier asked members to close at least two Jones High and Dodson Elementary.

Grier wants to use the buildings to house students from other schools that are being renovated. He said he d eventually like to see Jones and Dodson turned into specialty schools.

He also wants to close Fleming Middle, Henderson Elementary and Port Houston Elementary because of low enrollment.

A final decision is expected in March.
