PEARLAND, Texas - A six-hour standoff involving a man accused of breaking into his neighbor s home came to a peaceful end early Monday morning, police said.
Another person accused in the break-in was taken into custody as well, according to the Pearland Police Department.
It all started around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when officers were called to reports of a break-in on Lake Shore Drive. A homeowner said he scared off two men who broke into his home.
As officers arrived, they found one of the suspects running down the street. He was quickly taken into custody and then to the hospital due to cuts on his hand from broken glass.
Police said another officer was driving down the street looking for the second suspect when he spotted a car in a driveway with its door open. The officer got out and approached the home. When the 21-year-old suspect inside saw the officer, he retreated into an area of the home where he couldn t be seen. The officer spotted a weapon in the home and backed away, and a SWAT team was called in.
Police determined the home belonged to the suspect, but he initially refused to come out. He finally surrendered around 1:20 a.m.
Police said they were able to tie the two suspects together after the pair admitted that they knew each other. Pearland police said the suspects also tried to break into two other nearby homes.
