HOUSTON -- How does one of America s oldest performing arts organizations celebrate its 100th year? With a free day of music, of course.
The Houston Symphony plans to kick off the upcoming celebration with a performance of its own, but after that there will be a little bit of everything.
We ll have rock bands, jazz groups, big band, gospel, Zydeco, Klesmer, Japanese drumming, and even noir, says Steve Wenig with the symphony. It s like a big pot of gumbo. You put everything in it and there it is.
The event takes place at Jones Hall on Saturday, July 13.
Thirty various groups will play on five stages from early morning until late into the night, and there will be other fun activities for adults and kids alike.
