HOUSTON A Deer Park man who assaulted a deputy and damaged a car Wednesday was arrested after having some sort of fit in the middle of a street, according to the Harris County Sheriff s Office.

Mark Prevost, 40, was charged with assault and criminal mischief.

Deputies said Prevost was walking and attempting to stop motorists in the 25200 block of FM 2100 when he jumped on top of a car and fellinto the windshield,causingit to cave in.

A deputy was trying to assist placing Prevost in an ambulance on a gurney when he used his body to push the deputy out of the ambulance. The deputy landed on the ground and struck his forearm, causing a laceration.

Prevost was subdued by another deputy who placed him in leg irons, then transported to Northeast Memorial Hermann Hospital for medical treatment.
