HOUSTON -- Police said a two-car accident led to a fire and injuries on I-10 East overnight.

The accident happened near the exit for Waco Street around 10:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police said a car heading eastbound was clipped by another vehicle changing lanes. The driver lost control and smashed into the concrete barrier.

Three adults in the car were sent to the hospital in stable condition.

The crash shut down the eastbound lanes and caused a heavy backup into downtown for more than an hour.

The driver in the other car was not injured and stopped to talk with police.
