HOUSTON -- METRO says all rail stations will be closed this weekend while crews work on the new light-rail lines coming to Houston's downtown.

Officials say there will be no rail service between the Fannin South and UH-Downtown stations beginning at 7:45 p.m., Friday through midnight, Sunday.

While all rail stations are closed, METRO will operate rail shuttle buses every 10 minutes during normal service hours on these days. Please note, buses will not be able to access the UH-Downtown Station due to the construction.

METRO says the construction also requires a road closure of Main Street between Texas and Walker. This closure begins at 7 p.m., Friday and lasts through 4 a.m., Monday.

METRO officials have suggested these detours:

  • Rusk traffic to detour north on Travis, east on Texas, south on Fannin, and east on Rusk.
  • Capitol traffic to detour south on Fannin, west on Walker, north on Travis, and west on Capitol.
