HOUSTON - It s been a difficult few days for the family. Not only are they forced to deal with losing their 2-year-old, but they don t know how they will bury him.

His smile could light up a room and his personality was infectious. Just ask his uncle, Daron Davis.

His smile. He wasn t a selfish kid. He would say here car play, here I, you, we play, Davis said.

But 2-year-old Jashaun Davis is gone forever. Cops said the little boy died in the hands of his father, 24-year-old Tyrone Jefferson.

My nephew peed on himself and that was the trigger, said Davis. It started with a belt. From what we understand escalated into him punching him, face, chest, face, chest.

It happened on Thursday afternoon at the child s mother s apartment at City View Place in north Houston.

The mother was at work and the father was babysitting, but he denied the allegations to us that day.

I ain t gonna beat my son. Ya ll say I beat my son? I don t beat my son. Whoop him with a belt? Saw me beating on him? Wow, Jefferson said.

And hearing those words make Davis uncle cringe. Meanwhile the child s mother is a lost soul, who couldn t keep it together during our interview.

He would ve been 3 April 30. For him to be so innocent, so sweet, so young and to to go...him punching hand, Davis said. He s helpless, defenseless.

The 2-year-old s family wants to bury him on Saturday, but they don t know if they can. It will cost them up to $10,000.

As for Jefferson, he s being held without bail on capitol murder charges.

To help with the funeral, make donations to the Jashaun A. Davis Memorial Fund at any Bank of America.
