HOUSTON We ll be close to hitting triple digit temperatures again on Thursday, especially in our northern counties, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson.

The end of the work week will remain hot and humid with the prospect of slightly cooler weather starting over the weekend.

On Thursday, temperatures across the Houston area will be in the upper 90s and feel as hot as 103 to 108 degrees. The normal high for this time of year is 92 degrees.

Our temperatures are going to drop by Saturday as a cool front arrives, said Johnson. We will see a chance for showers, especially midday and into your early afternoon. On Sunday, just in time for the Texans game, the weather is going to set up pretty nicely.

The only rain in the 7-day forecast comes Saturday with a 40-percent chance.

High temperatures this weekend into next week will be in the upper-80s and low-90s. Overnight temps will be in the mid- to low-70s.

As for the tropics, if the remnants of Isaac reform, the storm will be renamed. Predictions do have it forming into a tropical storm by late Friday just south of Louisiana before a cold front pushes it east to Florida.
